One done, 25 to go

Good afternoon, everyone!

I know, I know. I am late with a blog post. I have been busy trying to find more projects to complete and I have also been trying to find a job so that I am able to buy the yarn necessary for my projects.

But during this time, I have been able to finish one project! When I was working in retail, I had a lovely lady working with me named Jayne. She quickly took on a motherly role for me and soon became my "Work Momma." I love this lady and she has always been such a sweetheart. I bought pink yarn ages ago hoping to make something for me but I instead took the pink yarn and made Jayne a blanket.

This blanket is the modified Everybody Scarf from Fiber Flux. Instead of doing a foundation chain of 18, I multiplied it by 6 to get a chain of 108. The pattern says that you need to work a sc (single crochet) in the second chain from the hook. I ended up doing it in the 3rd chain and it worked much better for me. The other thing that I think makes this blanket beautifully unique is that I used two yarns at once. I feel like it made it much cozier and it looks so cool!

The colours that I used were Red Heart Comfort Black (E707D_3131), Red Heart Comfort Shocking Pink (E707D_3194) and Red Heart Comfort White (E707D_3130). I used up some of my leftover black and white from a previous project but all told, the blanket's materials would have been roughly $30 CAD.

The next project that I am working on is a Speedy Granny Throw for my lovely friend Michelle. She and her husband are supplying me with the yarn to make it. I don't have many pictures of the squares yet but I will get them posted soon. They are looking pretty darn nifty if you ask me.

There are a few other projects floating around but for now, I will leave it at that.

Remember, no matter where you are, I will always yarn for you <3

The Beginning of a Great New Project

Good morning everyone out there,

I figured that I would start with the basics. My name is Kaytee and I am 29 (almost 30!!!) years old. I have the most wonderful fiance who lovingly supports all of my antics. When we watched Julie & Julia a couple of weeks ago, I was suddenly inspired. Like, hit with lightning inspired.

I decided to do my own Julie & Julia project...just not with cooking.

Don't get me wrong, I love to cook. I love to eat good food but I don't think that I would want to try and work my way through a Julia Child cookbook because a.) I don't have the money and b.) I can't afford to gain more weight (haha).

My project that I wanted to do was 52 crochet projects in 52 weeks but I realized that I would not be able to complete that many projects. One blanket can take me at least one month! Well, I knew that I wanted to do crocheting because I am good at it and who knows? Maybe I will get extremely good at it.

My project for 2015/2016 is 26 Crochet Projects in 52 Weeks. That isn't to say that as soon as I reach 26 completed projects I am going to stop but rather I want to push myself to do at least 26 projects. If I do more, awesome! If not, then cue the Grumpy Kaytee to begin her march.

I am taking suggestions for projects but so far on my list I have:

-Speedy Granny Throw
-A modified Everybody Scarf
-Women's Peaked Hat

I know that it isn't many projects but merely a few but I have 52 weeks to find all 26 projects.

I will be checking in when I find a new project or when I finish one. I will always include pictures of my work so you can see my progress through all of my projects. I have already started the Speedy Granny Throw and the Everybody Scarf (which I am making into a lapghan) but I haven't gotten far with either of them yet.

Well, I think that this has been a productive first post. I introduced myself (Kaytee, if you forgot already) and I let you know what my project for this year is (26 projects in 52 weeks...sheesh, you really don't remember things, do you?).

Remember, no matter where you are, I yarn for you.
